Teaching and Learning Highlights

Our pedagogy emphasizes the "Mind and Hands" coordination approach, moving beyond basic skills to authentic problem-solving:

  • STEAM & AI Integration: We have successfully incorporated AI education into our core curriculum. Students utilize AI tools to assist in meal planning for diverse target groups (such as the elderly or vegetarians), ensuring nutritional balance while meeting specific dietary requirements. In textiles, students use AI to generate ideas for wardrobe planning and to help articulate their "reason of choice," justifying their design decisions based on functionality, material properties, and aesthetics.
  • Digital & Language Literacy: To strengthen communication skills, students engage in digital presentation design (e.g., PowerPoint) to showcase their inquiry-based projects. This allows them to demonstrate their design concepts and research findings effectively. Our Language Across the Curriculum (LAC) strategy further helps students master subject-specific vocabulary, progressing from writing simple recipes to performing descriptive analyses.
  • Values & National Security Education (NSE): We foster national identity through holistic themes like the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival and Food Therapy in the 24 Solar Terms. By connecting traditional Chinese wisdom with modern concepts of Food Security, students develop a sense of national belonging and responsibility.
  • Differentiated Strategies & Soft Skills: We cater to learner diversity through tiered practical tasks and peer-support activities. Collaborative "Design and Make" projects are used to develop essential soft skills, including effective communication, team collaboration, and critical thinking.
