Sustainable Development Committee

At Ho Lap College (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), we see sustainable development as a shared responsibility and a living part of our school culture. In line with the Education Bureau's emphasis on values education, whole-person development and life-wide learning, our work connects global issues with students' daily learning and real-life experiences.

Guided by the Sik Sik Yuen spirit of compassion and service, we encourage students to understand the challenges facing our world and to reflect on their role within it. Through initiatives such as Climate Fresk workshops, Global Citizen Training for student leaders, and professional development sessions that support teachers in integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into different subjects, we create meaningful opportunities for students to think critically and act responsibly.

This work progresses from building awareness of global challenges to encouraging active engagement through cross-disciplinary learning and campus initiatives, and ultimately to nurturing student leadership. With the establishment of the student-led Sustainability Society and the Sustainable Development Committee, together with participation in Green School initiatives and the organization of SDGs Action and Awareness programmes, students are empowered to move from learning about sustainability to leading sustainable action.

Our vision is simple yet ambitious: to cultivate informed, reflective and courageous young people who not only understand the world's challenges, but are ready to contribute thoughtfully and responsibly to a more sustainable future.
