The Chemistry Curriculum aims to build students’ scientific literacy so they can engage confidently in a knowledge-driven society, pursue chemistry-related further study or careers, and remain lifelong learners in science and technology. It encourages curiosity and wonder about chemistry, helps students construct and apply chemical knowledge, and highlights links between chemistry and other disciplines. The curriculum fosters understanding of science as an evolving enterprise, cultivates inquiry, problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, and teamwork. Students learn to discuss and judge chemistry-related issues responsibly, practise safety, and consider the social, ethical, economic, environmental and technological impacts of chemistry as informed, open-minded citizens.
